CHASE LOGS 2013

04/16/13 T-3 Moosic, PA

This was a very well defined storm system ahead of a massive cold front. The differences in temps were massive- almost a 40 degree drop after the storm. This was a traditional squall line storm with 60 mph winds and pea sized hail. Some wind damage was reported along with torrential rain of 1.2 inches in one hour. A very decent start to the season- a little early too.

This was also a nasty squall line storm that had decent CAPE at 500 and moderate rotation. A tornado warning was issued for a storm ahead of the squall line but ended up being a 100 mph microburst. The storm had damaging winds reported near Bloomsburg and in Lycoming county. Again the torrential rain was impressive at 2 inches/hr and the lightning strikes were impressive as well.
